VARIOUS ARTISTS / THE FIRST PULSE (PULSEWAVE RECORDS)

"The record collection seems to reflect the current trend. Pulsewave Records establishes itself in the record business with a collection in the techno genre. The techno influenced tracks are most prominent, but the drum'n'bass and trance come through occasionally. Most of the performers that present their material on the record are relatively unknown. A refreshing aspect is the presence of some croatian talent within the collection. Among those involved are the guys from "JUICEHEAD" and "MNEMOSYNE". Fredrik Östlund, Hans möller and Daniel skaborn create well developed techno and d'n'b  under the  umrella-project "AUDIONAUT". They give us a taste of songs like "Six feet over" and "Anything is everything". This summer the trio is going to release an extended-play on the English ASTRODOME RECORDS under the "MNEMOSYNE" name, something to look forward too.
Techno has it's roots  in synth-music. The relationship becomes apperent when the man behind Pulsewave, Ulf Ljung, breaks loose in "Manhunt". The number is bodysynth á la "APOTYGMA BERZERK" in a heavy techno version. One dream techno-trance track is "Origin of Species" which is produced by "ARTificial". The one-man-band, ARTificial, handles his instruments skillfully and inspires a mood for rave and excitement. The only thing his seems incapable of doing is failing. Anyone who´s really into techno and trance had better snap up "The first Pulse".

Omslaget manar "THE BEAT IS TECHNO". Jag instämmer! Det nya och högintressanta skivbolaget PULSEWAVE RECORDS första skiva på marknaden är en samling med sju olika band varav fem är svenska. Ulf Ljung som är mannen bakom PULSEWAVE kan utan tvekan vara stolt över sin första skiva. De sju banden sträcker sig över ett mycket vida spektrum i technovärldens alla vinklar, alla bra på sin speciella genre, det är därför svårt att nämna något band som utmärker sig mer än något annat. Bland de band som gör enormt bra ifrån sig skall nämnas DORMANT, ARTificial och FILE OPERATION ERROR som för övrigt är herr skivbolagdirektörs egna grupp. Jag kan inte mycket annat än lyfta på hatten till herr Ljung och säga "Grattis! Det här gjorde du jävligt bra, och lycka till med framtida produktioner".
